Above are actual illustrations of an existing
court we surveyed with high and low spots with drainage arrows
compared to a “new”, perfectly graded Har-Tru court. Prestigious
Clubs who have already taken advantage of the great service include;
Greenwich Country Club in Connecticut, Atlantis Resort and Casino in
Paradise Island Bahamas, and Ansley Golf & Country Club in Atlanta,
GA.
What is a Facility Analysis Survey and how
does that help my club? For years we have been helping
clubs with information about courts and what makes them work. We
have done countless maintenance seminars and even did a videotape on
how and why a court is built and the principals of caring for them.
We have had specifications from the USTC & TBA that give general
guidelines (which we still use) for what a court should look like and
what are the proper profiles and grades for a court. All this
has been good information but has been so general that it has been
tough for non-construction managers and Teaching Professionals to
relate those specifications to their unique situations.
Individual contractors have different methods
that they use to correct and repair older out of spec courts.
Most of these methods work, but because we all get bogged down in the
methods, we have a hard time visualizing our particular problem and
developing a plan to fix the courts. It all can be quite
confusing.
Our goal with the Facility Analysis Survey is to
give you an “up-to-date” picture of exactly what you have with your
courts. We also want you to have a clear long term plan to fix
the problems. When possible, we try to give such recommendations
to you in bite size pieces that can help you establish a long-term
budget that fits your circumstances.
We have four trained technical/sales
representatives who can do this survey and we have developed a
template for our staff to use that will give you a complete picture of
where you are and where you need to go. Both long term and
short-term recommendations are included for you to use as you see fit.
We even give you illustrative pictures of the grades of your courts,
which is the key to proper drainage and a huge part of how your courts
behave (see picture above). We are trying to take some of the
uncertainty and guesswork out of your decision-making, so you can know
what to ask for when you discuss future work with your contractor.
We want you to understand what it takes to have great Har-Tru courts
so that your courts will be the very best they can be. That
makes us both look good, and helps us both be more successful.
